Times Flies When You Work All The Time

How is it already almost the end of July? I planned on at least doing a post right after Plonker’s last one… but I woke up and almost a month had gone by.

Not all has been stagnant in the world of Fujupz, despite the lack of posts. We’ve been training for our Annual August Bike Ride to Sandusky (3.0). We’ve increased the mileage by around 50 miles to about 180, but we’ve also increased the number of travel days each way by 1 to 3 travel days each way. We also increased our time in Sandusky to 8 not including arrival and leaving days. For those keeping track that 14 days out of our PennOhio Valley. True it IS only Sandusky, but believe us, getting out of the area to go anyway always feels better than being at home.

I’ve also finally purchased Adobe Creative Cloud. I have zero experience using any of the programs.. but when I learn them maybe we can have some content that doesn’t look like it was thrown together by a blind man.

Also the big news is Fujupz is now an LLC. Fujupz, LLC currently consists of this blog… and I have yet to transfer the info for it to the company yet.  Baby steps. Oh, also there is the YouTube channel. The company is registered as a printing company, but I plan to expand to other areas, as I myself have many interests. My plan is to acquire some printing equipment, and make YouTube videos while using it. I also want to have a machine shop division (currently considered name is Hoffenplonker Maschinenwerke… mainly because the name makes me laugh). I would also like to then make YouTube Content from that. So basically anything I add to the business I can video it and add it to the YouTube page. It’s taken a while to get this far, and currently the business actually does nothing. But hey, someday I’ll be sitting on Fujupz: the Yacht drinking Fujupz: the Margarita while watching old episodes of Fujupz: the Videos after a long ride on Fujupz: the Bicycle.

As Plonker mentioned in his last post, we went vegetarian. At least for a while. We lasted about 3 weeks, not because we couldn’t do it (But oh god I’m craving chicken & broccoli), but because we took a trip to Kings Island. As everyone knows calories don’t count on vacation, we expanded that out to include all foods. And boy howdy did we make the most of it. From huge medium rare steaks to stacks of pancakes (not that we couldn’t eat pancakes while vegetarian.. I just didn’t because lazy) I ate so much over the weekend. I didn’t weigh in Monday for fear of how much weight I packed on. However, we had been told numerous times to go No Carbs instead of No Meat. Hey, I’m quite the proud Meat0saur… chow down on meat and skip veggies? NO PROBLEM! I can finally eat my chicken & broccoli! Except the rice. Not worth is.

So Monday I didn’t weigh in, but ate no carbs. Or, under 20 grams according to Atkins anyway. Also skip milk and milk products, except Heavy Cream. And no breads. Some veggies are ok, at least up to a point because carbs. The problem I ran into was mainly me being lazy/working long hours. I get out of work, and I barely want to go to the store to BUY the food, let alone cook it. Could I have bought some burgers and grilled them? Chicken breasts and grilled them? Sure. But I don’t know how much propane I have for the grill since I haven’t used it in at least 3 years. Same with cleaning the grill. I took the easy way out and Monday and Tuesday I ate breakfast sausage for dinner. One of the days I had a pack of beef jerky for lunch also. The rest of the week I had a block of cheese for lunch and some smoked sausage for dinner (if I had anymore breakfast sausage I was going to vomit). Sure they’re over 2/3 fat, but protein and fat are all you need, right? We also kept our calorie intakes to our normal daily calorie totals.

The Results: I don’t think Plonker ever actually weighed in at all this week, even after we ended it after 4 days (we only planned on doing 4 days. We went on a Charlotte trip after that). I weighed in Tuesday after gorging myself all weekend and eating a pack of jerky and 24 breakfast sausages on Monday and was only up by .2 lb. Wednesday I was down 1 lb from Tuesday. Thursday I was down 1.2 lb from Wednesday. And Friday I was 1.6 lb down from Thursday.

Did I lose weight? Yep, and I only did it 4 days (before gorging myself again). Will I do it again? Oh hell no. For as easy as I thought it was going to be it was quite difficult. Everything has carbs in it. And I like carbs. I want my steamed rice with some chicken & broccoli. I want a god damned sandwich. By the end of the 4 days I was slurring my speech and having brain fog (both of which I think I got everyday until I had sausage in my mouth… that doesn’t sound right). If perhaps I made actual meals instead of eating a bunch of 1 item it would have gone better. Actually get a salad in me for once, but with my hours, the brain fog, and inability to keep my eyes open longer than necessary during the experiment, I’m a little surprised I ate anything at all. I actually preferred eating no meat as opposed to eating basically nothing but meat, which really surprised me. I think I’ve made the decision to just go back to watching my total calories as I think it’s more sustainable in the long run. Also I can have my Chicken & Broccoli.

About Hoff

Hoff spends his time tearing things apart in the hopes of making them work better. Sometimes he's actually successful. In his "spare" time he likes to eat, sleep, and thinking of places to go to get out of this God forsaken hell hole of a valley. Also he likes to bake.
